Advanced Specialty Diver

Description

Continue your adventures, improve your skills and gain the experience necessary to dive in the best places in the world with SSI's advanced training programmes.

As you will have already learned during your SSI Open Water Diver course, there are two factors to gaining confidence and safety in the water: training and experience, and this SSI certification will assess both.

This training programme we offer is the perfect balance to continue your training as a diver. Choose four specialities from the following list and you will complete them all!

  • Deep Diving
  • Dry Suit Diving
  • Nitrox
  • Navigation
  • Perfect buoyancy
  • Night diving and limited visibility
  • Wreck diving
  • Equipment techniques
  • Science of Diving
  • Computer diving
  • Scooter diving
  • Any of the Marine Ecology options: turtles, sharks, manta rays, corals, etc.

Once you have chosen your two specialities, you will begin your individual work with the digital theory part via the SSI website or app. Once at the dive centre, we will schedule the days and times of the courses with your instructor for both the theory sessions in the classroom and the water sessions, depending on the specialities you have chosen.

Once you have completed the course, you will acquire the four internationally recognised specialty certifications and, upon logging your dives (at least 24), you will receive SSI recognition as an Advanced Specialty Diver.

Training Philosophy – The SSI Diver Diamond
  • Knowledge: You will study the material at home and during interactive review sessions, your SSI Professional will teach you “land value to water value” and how the information learned applies to being underwater.
  • Skills:The best way to learn skills is through continuous practice and correct repetition. The goal is for the core training skills to become second nature (” Comfort through repetition”).
  • Equipment:Understanding how to operate the equipment ensures you will enjoy every minute in and under the water.
  • Experience: SSI training develops knowledge and skills, but the only way to get real experience is to go diving frequently.
  • Responsibility: Following responsible diving practices keeps everyone safe and protects the underwater environment.
  • Environment: Competent divers understand that they are only visitors when exploring the world’s fragile, slow-growing underwater ecosystems.
